Liam Dotz - Biography
Liam Dotz is my alias, at the age of 20 I bought an old analog reflex Richo and an basic Polaroid for my pleasure and for study. After two years I lost the most of interest in photography. Out of the blue, only by chance I tried take some shots with a friend's digital Fuji SLR 6Mp at about 30.
Is a matter of fact that photography, starting from this moment, would never be out of my life.
Afterwards I attended a photography course with the teacher Angelo Tondini in Milan. A former student of Art Kane. In my opinion Kane is one of the greatest American visionary photographer ever. Seriously I began studying the authors, the masters of the past and present and a use of light.
After this initial training course, on behalf of Familia Legnanese I shot the “Palio di Legnano “ for four years. Later on I worked for other 2 years as official photographer of the College of Captains.
In 2016, January I opened my own studio in Milan, devoting myself to glamor, boudoir and trash photography.
Some other workshops helps me more then expected. I am talking about Simone Angarano and Luca Denardo.
So, in short, my photography is deliberately impromptu, deliberately imperfect up to the trash. The aim of my work is always telling stories, communicate a message, a feeling, a concept that creates emotions. Good or bad, sweet or bitter, soft or hard with a little touch of madness.
